There is an endless amount of things to do in the area surrounding Quillhouse Cottages. Feel free to ask us for tips, for walks, day trips, sights or other activities. We will be happy to help you!

Killarney

Killarney is always welcoming and full of life. If you are looking for a souvenir, you will certainly succeed here. There are nice lunchrooms and numerous pubs. And, like everywhere in Ireland, there is always live music somewhere.

Muckross House and Gardens

There is plenty to do on this large estate. Visit the house (entry fee) or take a long walk through the gardens. Even those who have difficulty walking can get along well here on the asphalt. If that is not possible, then a ride on the jaunting car might be something for you. For those who are more adventurous, we recommend the exciting paths of the Arthur Young's walk.

Killarney National Park

This is a vast area around Killarney. It is the domain of the deer, and you can walk here freely in all seasons, in the park and the mountains. We have a lot of suggestions for you. Our favourites are climbing Torc Mountain and walking the Old Kenmare Road.

Carrauntoohill, Ireland's highest mountain

We do not necessarily recommend climbing to the summit. The first part up is called the Devil's Ladder and it is for a reason. Although a serious challenge, many take it up. We especially like the walk to the foot of the mountain, for during an exciting 3 hours' walk you will see beautiful mountains and lakes.

Dingle

A wonderful day trip is to the Dingle Peninsula. Picturesque towns, wild waves crashing against the cliffs, deserted beaches - you will find it all here! A dolphin seems to have made its home in Dingle Bay. From Dingle Town, boat trips are offered to watch and admire the dolphin.

We especially recommend that you explore the beautiful circular route on the peninsula and take a walk here and there. In Ireland you are regularly treated to a rainbow!
